    1. Absolute Bagels

    Absolute Bagels is the perfect place to go to satisfy your craving for baked goods. The shop has a reputation for serving up authentic baked goods and delicious spreads, so you know it’ll be good.

    And even better, Absolute Bagels is located on the northern end of Broadway, so it’s tucked away from tourist traffic (and therefore less popular). This means that even though it’s not as busy as other shops in the area, there’s always a steady stream of people coming in for a bagel fix—and you won’t have to wait long!

    If you want to try out Absolute Bagels’ unique spreads—such as the highly recommended lox—then we suggest ordering whichever variety is fresh out of the oven. If you’re looking for something savory, then we suggest ordering one of Absolute Bagels’ hearty breakfast sandwiches. Be mindful of overcapacity as you visit Absolute Bagels; the small interior holds only a handful of tables, and lines can wrap around the sidewalk.

    2. The Bagel Hole

    The Bagel Hole has been around for more than 30 years, and the food is as authentic as it gets. With poppy, sesame, and cinnamon raisin bagels on their menu, you’ll have to decide between the poppy or the sesame—but we recommend going with the poppy. When you order a bagel with cream cheese at The Bagel Hole, it’s going to cost roughly $1.50—and that’s before you add in extras like Boar’s Head cold cuts. That being said, if you don’t want to spend that much money on lunch at all (we understand!), there are plenty of other options on their menu for less than $2 each.

    The Bagel Hole is open seven days a week year-round, so no matter what time of year it is, there’s always an opportunity for tasty food and good conversation!

    3. Terrace Bagels

    When you’re in Park Slope, don’t miss Terrace Bagels! This restaurant has been a favorite of locals since it opened in the mid-20th century. It’s not just because of its delicious bagels—they are also known for their great coffee and creamy cheeses. Customers rave about their customized cream cheeses (flavors include olive pimiento, blueberry, and pumpkin walnut).

    The interior is spacious and modern, with plenty of seating options for customers who want to relax during their visit. There’s also a deli counter where you can order hot sandwiches or salads to go if you don’t feel like waiting for your food at the counter area. The prices average about $4 for breakfast sandwiches and a medium-sized coffee ($3.50) to $6 for bacon-egg-cheese sandwiches on seeded bagels ($5).

    Terrace Bagels opens its doors at 5:00 a.m. daily (5:30 on weekends), so it’s perfect for a late-night snack or breakfast before heading out into the city! As a tip, be on the lookout for the correct queue! There are two lines to make

    4. Ess-A-Bagel

    If you’re looking for a bagel that’s not just delicious, but also unique, look no further than Ess-A-Bagel. This Austrian family tradition has been serving up fresh bagels since 1976 at two locations in Midtown East and Gramercy—and we think it’s worth the trip!

    Ess-A-Bagel has two locations: one in Midtown East and one in Gramercy. The former is near the 1st Avenue L train station, while the latter is near 51st Street Station on the 4 or 6 train line. Both shops have indoor seating available, but their larger interiors can accommodate more guests than the smaller spaces of their counterpart locations.

    Ess-A-Bagel is open from 6:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., with shortened hours til 5:00 p.m. on weekends at both shops but only from 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Gramercy location (though this time period does include breakfast). Bagels are $1.15 apiece and sandwiches and pastries vary in price as well; they accept credit cards!
